A Picture Story

The Brave Kind Heart of Little Voices

When a rough morning lets The Hush creep in, Jordan's kindness turns to cruelty — and Lumi's bright light begins to fade. This is the story of how speaking up, a little sun named Sunny, and the Brave Kind Heart app help the light find its way back.

Meet Lumi. She's a sixth grader with a bright yellow bulb for a head, and when she's happy, she glows like sunshine on a summer morning. Lumi loves cartwheels, knock-knock jokes, and sharing her snacks at lunch. Her friends say being near Lumi feels like standing in a warm beam of light.

Now meet Jordan. Jordan has a green bulb head, and most days he glows a steady, friendly green. But this morning, Jordan's glow was flickering. His alarm didn't go off. His cereal was soggy. His little brother spilled juice on his backpack. By the time Jordan got to school, his bulb was dim and grumpy.

That's when The Hush found him. The Hush is a sneaky shadow spirit, cold and quiet, who slips into kids when they're hurting and whispers mean things into their hearts. The Hush curled around Jordan's shoulders and whispered, "Why don't you make someone else feel as bad as you do?" And just like that, Jordan's green glow turned a stormy, smoky gray.

At recess, Jordan walked right up to Lumi. "Nice bulb," he sneered. "Too bad it's the ugliest yellow I've ever seen." The other kids gasped. Lumi's glow dimmed a little. She tried to laugh it off, but Jordan kept going. At lunch, he knocked her sandwich off the table. In the hallway, he told kids not to sit by her. Online that night, mean messages popped up on her screen.

Day by day, Lumi's bright yellow bulb grew duller and duller. She stopped doing cartwheels. She stopped telling jokes. She started eating lunch alone in a classroom, where her glow was the color of an old, tired lamp.

One night, Lumi sat on her bed feeling smaller than she'd ever felt. Her mom knocked softly and sat beside her. "Sweetheart," she said, "I want to show you something." She opened her phone and tapped a glowing icon shaped like a heart with a shield. "It's called Brave Kind Heart. It's made for kids just like you."

Lumi tapped the app, and out popped a little smiling sun. "Hi there! I'm Sunny!" he chirped. "I'm here whenever you need me. Want to tell me what's going on?"

For the first time in weeks, Lumi started to talk. She told Sunny everything — about Jordan, about the sandwich, about the messages, about how her bulb just wouldn't glow anymore. Sunny listened to every word. "Lumi, what's happening to you is called bullying, and it is not your fault. You are brave for telling me. Let's report this together, okay?"

Sunny helped Lumi tap through the report. Was it verbal? Yes. Online? Yes. Where did it happen? School, and on her phone. With one more tap, the report was safely sent. Then Sunny said, "Now let's take a deep breath together. In… and out…" Lumi breathed along, and a tiny flicker of yellow returned to her bulb.

While Lumi slept, Sunny got to work. He gently notified her parents. He alerted the school counselor. He pinged her two best friends with a kind message: "Lumi could use some extra love tomorrow." And way up in the clouds, at a place called Bullying R.I.P. Headquarters, a shield-shaped light began to blink.

The next morning, Lumi's friends were waiting at her locker with a card covered in glitter and hearts. Her teacher gave her a warm smile and said, "I'm so glad you're here today." Her counselor met with her at lunch, just to listen. Slowly, Lumi's bulb began to glow brighter and brighter, back to its sunny yellow.

Meanwhile, Jordan was called to the office. His parents were there too. They weren't angry — they were worried. "Jordan," his dad said, "something's been hurting you. We want to help." The counselor talked with Jordan about his bad mornings, his big feelings, and the mean things he had done. And as Jordan finally let the tears out, The Hush hissed and shrank and slipped right off his shoulders. His bulb flickered… and turned green again.

A few days later, Jordan walked up to Lumi at recess. His head was down. "Lumi," he said quietly, "I was really mean to you. I'm so sorry. I don't know why I did it, but I know it was wrong." Lumi looked at him for a long moment. Then she smiled her sunny smile. "I forgive you, Jordan." She pulled out her phone. "And… I want to show you something. It's called Brave Kind Heart. Sunny helped me when I felt awful. He can help you feel better too."

Suddenly, a warm, powerful light filled the playground. Down stepped a hero in Black & Gold, holding a shining shield. It was The Bullying Guardian herself! Sunny beside her, beaming.

"Lumi," the Guardian said, kneeling down, "you showed incredible courage. You spoke up, you healed, and then you shared the light with someone who hurt you. That is the bravest, kindest heart I have ever seen." She turned to Jordan. "And Jordan, asking for help and saying sorry is one of the hardest, strongest things a person can do. I'm proud of you too."

She raised her shield high, and it glowed with every color of every bulb on the playground. "Whenever The Hush tries to whisper, remember you are never alone. Sunny is always with you. I am always with you. And bravery and kindness will always, always win."

Lumi glowed brighter than she ever had. Jordan glowed right beside her. And somewhere in the shadows, The Hush whimpered and faded away… for now.

Because as long as kids have brave kind hearts, and an app to match — the light always finds its way back.

The End.

Meet the Cast

The Little Voices & Friends

The Little Voices are kids whose feelings glow right above their heads — and the heroes (and shadows) who shape their story.

Lumi
Main Character · Age 11

Lumi

A sixth grader and one of the Little Voices. When she's happy, her voice-orb glows warm gold with teal and coral sound-waves; when she's bullied it dims to a quiet gray-blue. Kind, thoughtful and sensitive, Lumi's journey is learning that her voice matters — and that speaking up is brave.

Jordan
Classmate · Influenced by The Hush

Jordan

A sixth grader and one of the Little Voices. When The Hush takes over, his glow dims to a smoky blue-gray. Jordan isn't the real villain — he's a kid being influenced by The Hush, and his story shows that children can be supported, corrected, and guided back toward kindness.

The Bullying Guardian
Protector · Leader of Bullying R.I.P.

The Bullying Guardian

The heroic protector and leader behind Bullying R.I.P. — a powerful woman in black-and-gold armor with a cape and a winged shield. She never fights children; she fights The Hush, helping kids speak up and helping parents and schools respond. Her shield is connected to the Brave Kind Heart app.

The Hush
The Villain · The Force of Bullying

The Hush

Not a child or a person, but the force of bullying itself — a smoky shadow of silence, fear and shame, made of muted speech bubbles and broken sound-waves. It feeds on kids staying quiet and grows when they believe no one will listen. It's defeated the moment a Little Voice speaks up and gets support.

The Shield & the Solution

Inside Brave Kind Heart

More than a story — Brave Kind Heart is the tool that helps Little Voices speak up when The Hush tries to silence them.
